Cameron Diaz stands behind unpopular marriage advice! The 51-year-old star doubled down on her desire to ‘normalise’ the idea of couples sleeping in separate bedrooms – or even in separate houses.
The actress made a light-hearted joke during an interview Molly Sims and Emese Gormley for the best friends podcast, Dear Media’s Lipstick on the edge, along with her Avaline co-founder, Katherine Power. Towards the end of their conversation, the conversation turned to Gormley’s relationship with her husband, when she mentioned that they “don’t sleep in the same bedroom” because of his snoring.
“We need to normalize separate bedrooms,” Diaz chimed in. “For me, I would literally say, I have my house, you have yours. We have a family home in the middle. I’m going to sleep in your room, you’re going to sleep. in your room. I’m doing well.”
Diaz made the other women laugh and continued, “And we have the bedroom in the middle where we can gather for our relationships.”
As one woman warned Diaz she was creating a “bad headline,” the Charlie’s angels actress brushed it off.
“I already said it,” she explained. “Besides, I don’t feel that way anymore because my husband is so great. I said that before I got married.’
Diaz married Good Charlotte rocker Benji Madden in 2015. Together, the duo share one daughter, Raddix, who turns four this month.
Elsewhere in the podcast, Diaz talked about her family’s move to London while filming Back in action of Jamie Foxx. The film, which has not yet been released, will be released her first return to acting since 2014 Annie.
“It’s like riding a bike,” she said of performing.
“My husband and I made the decision for our family,” she said of her choice to accept the role. “It was really about what our family needed. We had been in Covid, our daughter was three months old when Covid started. She wanted – we wanted to get out into the world a little bit. to have to put something like that out into the world.”
Diaz shared that she and Madden split parenting duties while on location: Dad worked the day shift and ran his business at night, while Diaz spent her days on set and cared for their little one at night.
“We were both like, this is a Awesome idea,” she joked. ‘But it really was. We had a great time.”
