They say elephants never forget, and that includes the residence of the small town of Butte, Montana, which had to deal with an elephant roaming the streets on Tuesday.
Despite being known for their spectacular landscapes and wildlife, elephants are not native to the northwestern state.
The presence of the enormous animal is essentially proof that the circus is in town.
The large elephant, named Viola, managed to perform an escape act from the Jordanian World Circus, which is touring Montana throughout April.

Drivers along Butte's main drag couldn't believe what they were seeing as the elephant stomped along the highway, closely followed by a panicked circus crew member carrying a large stick.
The elephant managed to avoid being hit by one of the cars as he walked onto the forecourt of a nearby gas station before pulling into a parking lot and walking past the front door of the casino.
Bystanders were amazed by the bizarre and unusual sight.
The elephant then defecated on a resident's lawn before it was eventually caught by its handlers, NBC Montana reports.
There was no property damage and Viola was not injured.
The video showed the enormous mammal moving quite quickly before disappearing from view behind a building.

A local TV news journalist, DJ Bauer, posted on X that the elephant is 58 years old and comes from Asia.
He explained how she escaped from her cage after being scared by a truck that suddenly backfired while she was being washed outside by her handlers.
A Jordan World Circus website said a pair of shows will take place in Butte on Tuesday afternoon and evening.
According to the Performing Animal Welfare Society, Tuesday's incident was the second time an elephant has escaped from a Jordan World Circus setting.
