Footage shows an excavator driver using the bucket of his vehicle to rescue a colleague, who was also driving an excavator, from the sea in Dorset.
The worker was left stranded after his excavator got stuck in the sand on Bournemouth beach.
Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) environment councilor Andy Hadley said the driver was uninjured and had managed to isolate the fuel supply.
The machine was used to replace groynes as part of a BCP Council plan to protect the beach from erosion.
