A person has died after being attacked by a tiger at Yorkshire Wildlife Park, police have confirmed.
South Yorkshire Police stated it had been referred to as at 13:35 BST to studies of a person getting into the tiger enclosure on the attraction close to Doncaster. The tiger then attacked the person and he died on the scene, the drive stated.
His household had been knowledgeable and have been being supported by officers, it added.
A park spokesperson stated: “We’re deeply saddened by at this time’s tragic incident. Our ideas and heartfelt sympathies are with the household and family members of the one that has misplaced their life.”
They added: “We’re working intently with the police and related authorities and would ask that the privateness of these affected is revered at this extraordinarily tough time. The park will stay closed tomorrow.”
Police stated the tiger was unhurt, remained within the enclosure following the incident and there had been no wider threat to the general public.
The park was evacuated and officers stay on the scene.
The drive added: “We’re conscious of movies circulating on-line and we’d encourage individuals to not share this footage.”
Earlier, in an announcement posted on its web site, the park stated its emergency response procedures had been “instantly activated” and it was “working intently with the authorities to determine precisely what occurred”.
