A Palestinian living in Glasgow has said that 42 of his relatives were killed in the attacks on Gaza.
Dr. Ibrahim Khadra, who works at Strathclyde University, spoke at a rally in the city center where thousands of pro-Palestinian protesters gathered and urged an end to Israeli attacks.
More than a thousand Metropolitan Police officers were deployed to a demonstration in London and marches have also taken place in Manchester and Belfast.
The protests in Scotland and Britain come as Israel expands its attacks, three weeks after Hamas launched a cross-border attack that killed 1,400 people and kidnapped 229 people as hostages.
Since then, the Hamas-led Health Ministry in Gaza says more than 7,500 Palestinians have been killed when Israel carried out retaliatory strikes.
