Police in Germany have shot an axe-wielding man who threatened soccer followers on the Euros.
The incident came about on the Reeperbahn in Hamburg, a preferred leisure district in Hamburg’s metropolis centre, the place Dutch supporters have been marching.
Round 40,000 Dutch supporters have been collaborating in a peaceable protest when a person wielding a gold-coloured axe started to assault followers and officers, the German newspaper Bild reported.
A press release by Hamburg police learn: “At St Pauli there’s at present a serious police operation.
“In response to preliminary findings, an individual threatened law enforcement officials with a pickaxe and an incendiary gadget. The police then used their firearms. The attacker was injured and is at present receiving medical therapy.”
