Lotto player wins a huge amount but narrowly misses out on a jackpot worth MILLIONS

AN IRISH Lotto player won a huge sum in tonight’s draw – but they narrowly missed out on a mega jackpot worth millions.

Lotto bosses have confirmed that the winning numbers in tonight’s Irish Lotto jackpot draw were: 5, 22, 24, 29, 32 and 37.

The bonus number called was 31.

Heartbreakingly, the jackpot was a mouth-watering €9,274,400, just one number out of the gambler’s reach.

However, the player managed to collect €46,075 after matching five numbers and the bonus.

The Lotto draw’s Match 5 prize worth €1,842 was also won by 15 players.

Meanwhile, the Lotto Plus 1 draw with a top prize of €1 million was not won.

The winning numbers for the Lotto Plus 1 draw were: 8, 22, 24, 31, 39 and 40.

And the bonus number called was 32.

The Match 5 + Bonus prize of €5,000 was also unclaimed.

However, the Match 5 prize in the Lotto Plus 1 draw worth €500 was won by 11 lucky players.

Finally, the jackpot prize of the Lotto Plus 2 draw worth €250,000 was also not won.

The winning numbers for the Lotto Plus 2 draw were: 8, 21, 29, 42, 44 and 45.

And the bonus number called was 7.

The Match 5 + Bonus prize of €2,500 was also unclaimed.

However, the Match 5 prize in the Lotto Plus 2 draw worth €250 was won by 10 punters.

There were 75 winners of the lottery prize, each receiving €500.00.

The winning lottery number was 8349.

Meanwhile, an Irish Daily Million player told of his disbelief at winning a life-changing prize: “I almost couldn’t believe what I saw.”

The punter had a Christmas week to remember after heading to Lotto headquarters to collect the €1 million he won in the Saturday, December 9 draw.

The Dublin player admitted it took a few days to realize they had won and said they were over the moon after purchasing their winning ticket from the Centra store at the Texaco Service Station on Malahide Road in Dublin 17.

They said: “To be honest, I didn’t even know there was a top prize won that day, so when I scanned my ticket to check it, I didn’t even think about it.

“When I got the ‘You won big’ message, I checked my numbers, and it was the most surreal thing. I almost couldn’t believe what I was seeing.

“I’ve been playing for years and never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be sitting here in the Winners Room.

“It’s knowing that I’m helping charities that actually keeps me playing. I’ve seen the benefits the contributions have brought to groups in my community, and that’s really what keeps me playing – I swear, I don’t just say that!”

They added: “I didn’t think I’d be sitting here during Christmas week, let alone ever, so it still doesn’t seem real to me.
