Lotto bosses announce a major Christmas boost of €1 million for guaranteed winning players

LOTTO bosses have announced a huge Christmas boost for players after a Monaghan punter missed out on a life-changing prize worth more than £1million.

The National Lottery has confirmed that it will be hosting a special €1 million ‘GUARANTEED to Win’ Lotto Plus Raffle event on Saturday 23 December.

This additional €1 million prize will be returned to one lucky winner of the Christmas draw after a Monaghan player missed the deadline to claim the prize on Friday, November 17.

The €1,000,500 Lotto Plus Raffle prize, which they won on Saturday, August 19, went unclaimed.

This ‘guaranteed to win’ prize is added to the Lotto Plus lottery, which typically has between 60 and 120 €500 winners in each draw.

In the Christmas draw on Saturday, December 23, one of these lottery winners will increase their winnings by another €1 million.

A National Lottery spokesperson said: “We were incredibly disappointed to see one of our Monaghan players miss out on a life-changing €1 million prize that would have made him the 36th National Lottery millionaire of 2023.

“We are in the business of making millionaires and paying out life-changing prizes to our players. So we are delighted to announce that this unclaimed prize will be returned to the Lotto Plus Raffle prize fund, and one of our Lotto Plus players will officially become a Lotto millionaire just before Christmas on Saturday 23rd December.

How do I enter the Lotto Plus €1 million lottery event?

Any Lotto player who purchases a ticket with the Lotto Plus option included will automatically be entered into the Lotto Plus lottery draw.

How does the Raffle event work?

For each Lotto Plus line purchased, players receive a four-digit lottery number.

Raffle tickets with the drawn lottery number win €500.

For the Lotto draw on Saturday 23 December, all lottery winners will also be entered into a random draw, with one player GUARANTEED to win €1 million in addition to the usual €500 prize.

PRIZE OF €1 MILLION

It comes after Lotto bosses revealed a lucky online Daily Million player is celebrating after winning €1million in the November 9 draw at 9pm.

The winning numbers in Thursday’s draw were: 03, 05, 21, 25, 27, 33 and the bonus was 26.

The National Lottery has sent a notification to the user’s online account.

And a separate email has now been sent to the lucky Rebel County ticket holder.

Thursday’s Daily Million win marks the ninth major prize win of the year so far, following victories by players in Dublin, 2, Tipperary, Donegal, Kildare, 2, Limerick and Monaghan.

A National Lottery spokesperson said: “An online player in Cork is sure to be celebrating today after becoming Ireland’s newest millionaire.

“The Rebel County player won the €1 million top prize in Thursday’s Daily Million draw at 9pm and has now become the ninth top prize winner we’ve seen in the game so far this year.

“We encourage all our online players in Cork to monitor their accounts very carefully.”
