AN IRISH Daily Million player has spoken of his disbelief at winning a life-changing prize, saying: “I almost didn’t believe what I saw.”
The punter had a Christmas week to remember after heading to Lotto headquarters to collect the €1 million he won in the Saturday, December 9 draw.

The Dublin player admitted it took a few days to realize they had won and said they were over the moon after purchasing their winning ticket from the Centra store at the Texaco Service Station on Malahide Road in Dublin 17.
They said: “To be honest, I didn’t even know there was a top prize won that day, so when I scanned my ticket to check it, I didn’t even think about it.
“When I got the ‘You won big’ message, I checked my numbers, and it was the most surreal thing. I almost couldn’t believe what I was seeing.
“I’ve been playing for years and never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be sitting here in the Winners Room.
“It’s knowing that I’m helping charities that actually keeps me playing. I’ve seen the benefits the contributions have brought to groups in my community, and that’s really what keeps me playing – I swear, I don’t just say that!”
They added: “I didn’t think I’d be sitting here during Christmas week, let alone ever, so it still doesn’t seem real to me.
“Talk about a real pinch-me moment!
“This was certainly a great way to end the year and it’s a great start to 2024.”

Meanwhile, a Kerry Lotto player also had a memorable run-up to Christmas after visiting the Winners Room to collect his Match 5+Bonus prize worth €192,994 won in last Saturday’s draw.
The player from the Kingdom of Ireland scooped the incredible sum after purchasing his winning ticket from Garvey’s SuperValu in Dingle, Co. Kerry.
The Lotto jackpot is heading towards an estimated €9.2 million.

The gambler matched five numbers and a bonus and made an impressive win worth €192,994.
No player managed to take home the jackpot, which was worth a life-changing €8,878,340.
But in total, more than 98,000 players won prizes in the Lotto and Lotto Plus draws.
The lucky numbers in question were: 7, 9, 13, 23, 34, 36 and bonus ball 25.
The jackpot for the next draw, which takes place on Wednesday evening, is expected to reach a whopping €9.2 MILLION.
There was no winner of the Lotto Plus 1 top prize worth €1,000,000, but one player managed to take home €5,000 after matching five numbers and the bonus number.
The numbers were: 4, 6, 20, 25, 39 and 42. The bonus number was 18.
In the Lotto Plus 2 there was no winner of the jackpot prize worth €250,000.
