The Golden bachelorTheresa Nist then speaks out Gerry Turner filed for divorce after three months of marriage.

The 70-year-old turned 70 on Monday Bachelor nation star took to Instagram to thank her followers for their support.

“I thank everyone who has shown me love, support and kindness from the bottom of my heart. You are all such wonderful people,” she wrote. “It means a lot to me that you guys took the time to reach out to me, in person, on the phone, by text, or via direct message. You all kindly did so. For everyone else out there in are confused and angry and whoever doesn't understand, please try to find it in your heart to understand and try a little kindness, not just for me, but for the world and for everyone you meet.

Nist's message was accompanied by an image with Dr. Seuss: “Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.”

“It was one of the most incredible experiences of my life, something I never expected to happen at this point in my life and I honestly thought it would last forever. Even at the age of 70, it turns out that's not the to be the case.” I don't know everything,” she added. “Sometimes things don't go the way you planned and that's okay. I take so many positives from this experience, most importantly and most importantly the incredible friends I now have in all these wonderful, wonderful women and in Angie and Jenny, Payton and Charlee, the producers, the production crew and so many of you.”

Nist ended her note with a message of hope and inspiration.

“I ask you to remain open to all experiences, opportunities and love that come your way. Keep smiling, keep smiling…I will. I love you all,” she concluded.

On Friday, Nist and Turner, 72, made the announcement during a joint interview on Good morning America that they would end their marriage.

“Thérèsa and I have had a number of heart-to-heart conversations and we have taken a close look at our situation, our living situation, etc. and we have mutually come to the conclusion that it is probably time for us to part ways with our marriage,” Turner said , who sat next to Nist and held her hand.

During the conversation, Turner noted that the couple's commitment to their families was one of the biggest factors in their split. Nist said she was proud to have gone on this journey and wanted it to continue to inspire others to look for love, no matter what stage of their life.

“I don't think we can tell you how many people told us it gave them so much hope. We don't want this to change for anyone,” Nist said.

Hours after the interview, Turner officially filed for divorce from Nist in an Indiana court.

This is evident from court documents obtained by Page sixTurner cited an “irreparable rift” as the reason for the split and listed April 12 as the date of separation.

Turner and Nist married during a televised ceremony that aired on January 4 on ABC after the groundbreaking season of The Bachelor franchise with a host of silver singles looking for love with Turner.

December ET spoke exclusively to the former couple as they were still a month away from their wedding, and they shared their excitement about finally being able to share their love with the world.

Nist also shared at the time how happy she was to find love again on the inspiring journey.

She said: “I was open to the experience and the chance to get married again, but who would have thought? This is amazing. This is incredible.”
