Taylor Swift continues to make history, and the celebrated singer kept that trend going Billboard Music Awards 2023 on Sunday.
Swift – who was that? a finalist in no fewer than 20 categories — finished with 10 awards and shared a message with fans thanking them for their support.
“Well, this is surreal… the fact that you guys gave me 10 Billboard Awards – I’m talking specifically to the fans,” Swift said in an acceptance speech filmed backstage during a stop on her Eras Tour. “None of this happens without you. The Billboards base everything on what you listen to and what you’re passionate about, and I’m so honored that you made The Eras Tour so magical this year.”
“You went to see the movie, you cared about my reshoots. I just love you so much,” a cheerful Swift added.
The “Anti-Hero” singer said she feels “the luckiest person in the world to have you in my corner and to care about the music I make.”
“So thank you – thank you, thank you, thank you ten million times – for this,” she added.
Swift took home the prizes for Top Artist, Best Female Artist, Best Billboard 200 Artist, Best Hot 100 Songwriter, Best Radio Song Artist, Best Song Sales Artist, Best Billboard Global 200 Artist, Best Billboard Global (excl. US) Artist, Best Selling Song, and Best Country Female Artist .
Swift’s 10 wins are second only to Morgan Wallen’s 11 this year, and she not only continues to reign as the most awarded female artist at the BBMAs, but is now tied with Drake – who also took home five wins this year – for the most awarded artists of all time. Both Swift and Drake have won a total of 39 BBMA trophies.
Fast performed at the Estadio Nilton Santos Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Sunday, as part of the South American leg of her Eras Tour. She will perform again on Monday had to postpone her Saturday show due to the extreme heat wave in Brazil, and will continue her tour on November 24 with a three-day engagement in São Paulo.
