Peyton’s places
Peyton Manning And Pat McAfee are together again on the football field… and believe it or not, it’s Pat coaching the Hall of Fame quarterback – how to kick!
The former Indianapolis Colts teammates reunited this week at Lucas Oil Stadium for a Halloween episode of Peyton Places on ESPN+ (produced by Omaha Productions) …where Peyton received a personal tutorial on how to perfect the ‘coffin corner’.
If you don’t know what a box corner is… it’s when the punter kicks the ball between the opponent’s 5-yard line and the end zone, giving the offense terrible field position.
“Here Peyton, try it,” McAfee said. ‘No one wants to see me kick the ball. They want to see you doing this terribly.”
Since it’s the Halloween episode, they actually placed a literal coffin as a target on the field… and Peyton had a blast taking it down.
But after several attempts, Manning finally had some success – all while wearing a vest and pants!
“You just hit him,” McAfee shouted. “Let’s go!!!”
Of course, it helps to be trained by McAfee: the man is a two-time Pro Bowl punter who has booted more than 575 punts for more than 26,000 yards.
The boys were teammates with the Colts from 2009 to 2011… right before Peyton signed with the Denver Broncos, where he won his second Super Bowl.
Pat and Peyton are both TV guys now – McAfee has his show on ESPN and Manning has the famous “Monday Night Football” Manningcast with his brother, Eli (broadcast on ESPN 2).
Now that Peyton can kick just like Pat… they’re basically twins!!
