As a globe-trotting young television reporter, Martin Frizell encountered his fair share of danger.
He reported from Tiananmen Square in 1989 when thousands of democracy protesters were killed and journalists risked arrest; from conflicts in Iran, Iraq and Kosovo and, on his first day at GMTV, from Somalia, where he slept on a roof for safety while covering the civil war.
Now, however, the 64-year-old editor of This Morning is facing the kind of scrutiny he would once have cast on despotic regimes over his handling of Phillip Schofield’s affair.
