‘DWTS’: Xochitl Gomez and Val Chmerkovskiy React to Season 32 Win

Dancing with the stars season 32 concluded on Tuesday with a breathtaking finaleand after three hours of dancing and spectacle, Xochitl Gomez And Val Chmerkovskiy were named the newest DWTS Champions!

ET’s Denny Directo caught up with the exuberant duo after the show, and the 17-year-old Marvel star said she won the coveted Len Goodman Memorial Mirrorball trophy “feels good!”

“Every week we had so much fun and every time we had a great dance, and we felt good about it, we had a great feeling,” Gomez explained. “And that’s the same feeling we have here, you know? It’s exactly the same, but with times of, like, 10!”

For Gomez and Chmerkovskiy, the two have been frontrunners all season, and their partnership and friendship is being celebrated online and in the ballroom. The pair performed six routines that earned perfect scores, including their last four dances in a row.

“We had so much love, from everyone, from the crew and from the cast and from people outside of just the fans, you know? It was just so much love,” Gomez said. “And that’s what really made me love this whole experience.”

“I think this trumps everything by far,” Chmerkovskiy said. “You know, the trophy is cool, [but it] is the love we have received.”

As for the trophy itself, Gomez said she hasn’t picked a spot for it yet.

“It’s so heavy! I don’t know where it will be,” she said. “I probably have it [going] on my drawer, nearby [my] cat.”

For Chmerkovskiy, this is his third Dancing with the star win, but the first time since the trophy was renamed to honor the late Len Goodman – the old one DWTS main jury member who passed away in April at the age of 78 – and that makes the victory even more special.

“It’s a huge honor,” Chmerkovskiy said. “Len was a champion of ballroom dance… he very much brought ballroom dance to the forefront of the show and with it to millions of homes.”

“And so, to hold this trophy in his honor, especially this season, I was very motivated by the idea of passing my ballroom training and torch to this young, incredible talent,” he added, nodding to Gomez. “And I think Len would have been proud of that.”
