Lord Lucan: Cluedo cards found in peer’s car may shed light on nanny’s murder

Detectives investigating the Lord Lucan mystery discovered three Cluedo cards in the missing Earl’s car, prompting suggestions the infamous murder of his nanny may have been pre-planned, it was revealed on Friday.

The Eton-educated aristocrat went on the run in 1974 after 29-year-old Sandra Rivett, who worked for him, was bludgeoned to death with a lead pipe in his Belgravia home.

Detectives who carried out a cold case review into the killing 18 years ago discovered the cards from the board game in Lord Lucan’s abandoned Ford Corsair car, but never made the fact public, according to the Daily Mail.

The cards were; the character of Colonel Mustard; the weapon of the lead pipe and the location of the hall.

Lord Lucan was said to resemble Colonel Mustard in that they were both dapper and dignified ex-military men, a lead pipe was the murder weapon used to kill Miss Rivett and there was blood discovered in the hall of the house suggesting that is where the attack may have taken place.
