One Daily Million player on Dublin’s north side has become the 10th Daily Million top prize winner of the year.

They won a whopping €1 million in Saturday’s draw at 2 p.m.

The winning Quick Pick ticket was purchased from the Centra store in the Texaco petrol station on Malahide Road in Dublin 17 on the day of the draw.

Store manager Gierdre Argustiene was delighted when she heard the news.

She said: “There was a lot of excitement in the store today between the media attention and the spread of the win.

“All the staff here were thrilled when they heard it and now the customers are joining in on the buzz of all the action happening here today.

“This is the biggest prize this store has won, so we’re keeping our fingers crossed that the winner will soon check their ticket and realize they’re now a millionaire. And of course, in the run-up to Christmas, there couldn’t be a better time to win !”

The winner has not yet contacted the National Lottery, but €1 million is waiting for him.

The National Lottery advises winners to sign the back of their ticket and contact the prize claims team on 1800 666 222 or email [email protected]. Arrangements will then be made for them to claim their prize at Lotto headquarters.

A work syndicate also claimed a €1 million top prize in the Daily Million draw on November 9.

The working group bought their ticket online and wants to keep the victory private.

The head of the syndicate spoke of their excitement, saying: “There’s never a bad time to win a million euros, but getting it before Christmas is absolutely perfect!

“We all have our own families, so I think all the pre-existing Christmas plans and gifts have been upgraded to help celebrate the win.

“We haven’t gone crazy at work since the win, so we’ll take the check home today and take some time off over Christmas before we go crazy with any spending plans.”

WINNING EUROMILLIONS

There was more luck when a Wicklow family syndicate claimed a €266,633 prize they won in the €200 million EuroMillions draw on Friday 1 December.

The group matched five numbers and one lucky star.

They bought the ticket at a nearby shop called ‘Carmel’s’ in the heart of the Killarney Park residential area in Bray Town.

The group missed out on the €200 million jackpot by just one lucky star.

The family was still very happy with the victory.

They said: “Everything about this win was just brilliant. That level of excitement that came to our house after the draw was so special to share together.

“It’s a huge amount of money and we are over the moon. I can’t imagine what it would have felt like if we had won the full €200 million!

“We are more than happy with the win and it will go a long way towards paying off our mortgage and will even leave us with enough money for some much needed home renovations.”
