The Cork winner started his weekend in style after purchasing his winning Quick Pick ticket from Downey's Spar on Main Street in Castletownroche.

The winning numbers in the EuroMillions Plus draw on Friday 22 March were: 02, 03, 14, 21, 24.

With no winner of the €29,416,867 up for grabs in the EuroMillions main draw on Friday evening, Tuesday's jackpot will now roll towards an estimated €40 million.

Meanwhile, it was a Mayo Lotto player who jumped for joy on Saturday evening after matching five numbers and the bonus in the main draw, winning an incredible €87,616.

The Maritime County player became the night's biggest winner after purchasing his winning Quick Pick ticket on the day of the draw at Casey's Knockcroghery in Castlebar.

The winning numbers in the Lotto draw of Saturday March 23 were: 13, 14, 19, 24, 30, 40 and the bonus was 07.

More than 97,000 players won prizes in the Lotto and Lotto Plus games in Saturday's draw.

Since there was no outright winner of the €5,688,840 jackpot on offer, Wednesday's jackpot will now roll towards an estimated €6 million.

A National Lottery spokesperson said: “It was a big weekend for two National Lottery players in Ireland.

“A Cork EuroMillions player was the biggest winner of the weekend and now has a ticket worth a whopping €500,000.

“We are encouraging all our Rebel County players who may have purchased their tickets for the Friday night draw in the Castletownroche area to check their tickets immediately as one player could have a huge prize waiting for them.

“And of course they weren't the only big winner!

We thought we had only won £2.60, but when we checked the bill again it said we had scored a EuroMillions jackpot of £61 million

“A Mayo Lotto player had plenty to celebrate on Saturday evening after matching five numbers and the bonus to win €87,616.

“The weekend's two biggest winners are advised to sign the back of their tickets and keep them safe.

“They should contact the National Lottery prize claims team on 1800 666 222 or email [email protected] and arrangements will be made for them to collect their prizes from Lotto head office.”

Meanwhile, a scratch card player is “over the moon” after winning a €300,000 top prize in a €15 Lotto game.

The Monaghan gambler collected the €300,000 check when he visited Lotto's headquarters in Dublin earlier this week.

They won the top prize for a €15 All Cash Gift scratch card game, purchased from Cassidy's XL store on Dundalk Road in Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan.

The National Lottery said the winner was jumping for joy and admitted they initially didn't believe what they saw after scratching their ticket.

They said: “At first I thought I had won €30,000 and then I started counting the zeros.

“You never think you're going to be a grand prize winner, so I don't think that immediately occurred to me. I was totally shocked!

“I wouldn't even consider myself a very lucky person to be honest, but sure, here I am in the winners room, so that could change now.

“I'm absolutely over the moon and when the win finally sinks in, I'll start making plans for what I'm going to do.”
