Irish player wins life-changing top prize with huge EuroMillions Plus winnings

AN Irish Lotto player has pocketed a life-changing sum after winning the top prize of EuroMillions Plus tonight.

The cash winner, who bought his ticket in Cork, won €500,000.

The winning numbers were 2, 3, 14, 21 and 24.

Lotto bosses are urging winners of prizes worth €10,000 or more to “sign the ticket, keep it in a safe place and call the National Lottery prize claims team on 1800 222 666 or email [email protected]”.

There was no winner of the EuroMillions jackpot, which was worth a whopping €29,416,867.

The drawn numbers in the main draw were 8, 11, 23, 32 and 44. The lucky stars were 9 and 10.

In total, more than 46,000 players in Ireland won prizes in the EuroMillions and Plus games.

There were also ten winners of the Ireland Only Raffle Prize, worth €5,000.

As there was no overall winner of the EuroMillions jackpot of €29,416,867, the top prize will be carried forward to the draw on Tuesday 26 March.

Those hoping to land the next big win can buy tickets in store, via the National Lottery app or at www.lottery.ie.

Earlier this week, a lucky player in Monaghan won €300,000 after purchasing a €15 All Cash Gift scratch card game.

The punter said they were “over the moon” and added: “When the win finally sinks in I will start making plans for what to do.”

They bought the winning ticket from Cassidy's XL store on Dundalk Road in Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan.

They said: “At first I thought I had won €30,000 and then I started counting the zeros.

“You never think you're going to be a grand prize winner, so I don't think that immediately occurred to me. I was totally shocked!

“I wouldn't even consider myself a very lucky person to be honest, but I'm here in the winners room so that could change now.”

Shop owner Anita Cassidy, who runs the business with her husband Shane, said: “This is the biggest prize we have ever sold so there is great excitement about the win.”
