I’m a millionaire after winning the National Lottery – the first item I bought is a kettle

A NEW millionaire has revealed the first item he bought after winning the National Lottery was a cauldron – and has already planned what to do with the rest of the money.

The mystery man, known only as Mr W, has won £1million and knows what he’s doing with his new helpings.

The Leicestershire man won the National Lottery’s Cash Bolt Christmas Millionaire game.

He also wisely plans – along with the new kettle – to set up savings accounts for his grandchildren.

Andy Carter, Senior Winners Advisor at the National Lottery, said: “Fantastic news for Mr W on winning this incredible prize.

“He can make as many festive cups of tea as he wants with his new kettle, and has some very happy grandchildren with lots of savings for the future! Many congratulations!”

Mr. W played via the National Lottery app and has become one of more than eight million players who win weekly on the games on offer.

The win comes weeks after one person scooped a jackpot prize of £13,035,101 in a life-changing win just before Christmas.

Winners have the option to remain anonymous or, like Mr. W., reveal limited details about themselves and their spending plans.

A couple who won a similar amount and £1million on a scratch card claim they are still on a budget and their lives have not changed – apart from brushing off rude comments.

Emma and Phil Wildin, from Cinderford, Gloucestershire, were stunned to discover their huge windfall – but didn’t spend the money they expected.

Phil didn’t retire, and Emma still shops at the local co-op where she bagged the winning ticket while sticking to a tight budget.

“Our dream has always been to build our own house, but really we are just happy that we can give the children a nice life until they are old enough to build their own house,” she added.

Players can buy tickets in shops, play online or by downloading the National Lottery app.

The Cash Bolt Christmas Millionaire instant win game is only available to play on the National Lottery app for a limited time. It costs £5 to play and offers an overall one in 2.69 chance of winning a prize.

The National Lottery generates £30 million every week for National Lottery-funded projects. This money funds a variety of things across the country, with more than 685,000 grants supporting both large and small projects.
