Family collect life-changing Lotto prize after playing same numbers for 18 years

A WEXFORD family syndicate picked up their €5.6m Lotto jackpot prize today after “running the same numbers for 18 years.” 

The lucky family collective scooped the €5,612,385 top prize back on June 29 thanks to selecting numbers based on birthdays. and special dates.

Celebrations were in full swing in the National Lottery’s winner’s room today as the syndicate collected the life-changing sum.

The ecstatic family, who wish remain anonymous, told of their disbelief at winning such a staggering prize pot. 

Speaking at Lotto HQ, they said: “We’ve been running the same numbers for 18 years, and couldn’t believe it when they actually came up. 

“Our numbers are made up of birthdays and special dates that mean something to all of us.

“We must have checked the ticket a hundred times between us”. 

They added: “We’re looking forward to clearing our mortgages, changing a few cars and going on holiday. We’re a really close family and can’t wait to celebrate together in style.” 

The Wexford family of 16 have become Ireland’s 6th Lotto jackpot winner of the year. 

The winning Normal Play Pick ticket was sold in the Day Today store in Slaney Place, Enniscorthy.

Meanwhile, a second family syndicate claimed a huge National Lottery prize today. 

A family from Co.Laois collected their top prize of €500,000 EuroMillions Plus draw which they won on Tuesday July 12.

The family, who also wish to remain private, spoke of the difference the win will make to their lives. 

One syndicate member said: “It cost me €100 to fill up the car yesterday. This is going to take huge pressure off us and offer us some peace of mind”. 

Another said: “As mad as it sounds I’m really looking forward to buying some really expensive wool and knitting myself a gorgeous jumper. It’s a huge hobby of mine.” 

Their winning quick pick ticket was sold on the day of the draw at the Gala store on Grattan Street in Portlaoise, Co. Laois.

Also taking home a chunky prize today was the top prize winner from last night’s EuroMillions Plus draw. 

The anonymous Dublin player didn’t wait long to pick up their amazing €500,000 prize after buying the winning ticket in Jordan’s SuperValu, Fortunestown, Tallaght, on Monday.
