Why Sean doesn’t believe ‘BiPs Rachel and Brayden will last

Sean McLaughlin doesn’t think Rachel Recchia found love with Brayden Bowers on the beach. ET spoke with Sean about his Bachelor in Paradise elimination on Thursday night’s episodeand he revealed why he doesn’t think his one-time love interest ended up with the man sabotaged his chances with the former bachelorette.

“If it’s an endgame, that’s going to be a great combination, but I think Brayden is just going to have some fun. I think Rachel always has fun. It’s nice to see that side of her.’

Sean’s romance with Rachel was spoiled after he had a conversation with Jess. Things got worse for him when Brayden told Rachel that Sean hadn’t explored other options because he knew Rachel So in him. That, Sean told ET, is simply not true.

“I’ve never given the impression that Rachel loves me more. So when I heard Brayden say that to Rachel, it was a little frustrating. The whole thing was quite confusing because I didn’t know that Rachel was mad at me because of what Brayden told her “I thought she was mad at me for talking to Jess,” Sean explained, before insisting he “never said” Rachel loved him more than he loved her.

“Brayden just said I said it, which was never the case,” he said. ‘I was having a hard time… It really sucked. I don’t know why Brayden did that. I think maybe he made a mistake and then all hell broke loose.”

While all that was happening, the Paradise Truth Box arrived, with at least two entries insisting on Brayden and Rachel making out.

“I think it was more than two,” Sean recalled with a laugh. “I think Brayden had fun filling the box. To be honest, I tip my hat to him. It’s a pretty good move.”

Although that seemed to spell disaster for Sean’s chances of getting a rose, much to his dismay.

“I just felt betrayed by Brayden, so that was really hard. But it was more that once you’re in this, you don’t want to leave, especially if you’re single before the end. It just wasn’t something that I wanted to do it, so I was bummed,” he said. “It was disappointing that things with Rachel ended the way they did… [Now] we’re all friends, which is great. But yeah, it was just a very disappointing and kind of crappy night.”

He had a little hope then Sam Picco showed up on the beach, but in the end she wasn’t the girl for him.

“Sam certainly had the opportunity to bring a ray of hope to that beach for the boys who didn’t have a rose,” Sean said. “… [But] I’m very sure Sam wasn’t my person.”

Since leaving the beach, Sean has focused more on work than dating, although he’s “open to seeing what’s out there.” Likewise, if Bachelor Nation were to come calling again, Sean would be ready to answer the phone.

“I look back on both my times The Bachelorette And Bachelor in paradise with big, positive thoughts. “I’ve always never understood when contestants leave the show and they kind of mess up because I really had the best relationship with the guys from Charity’s season,” he said. I’m friends with everyone from Paradise. I met some of the coolest people, had some of the coolest experiences. I would definitely be open to doing it again if I was single and the time came. You never know what the future will bring.”

Bachelor in Paradise airs Thursdays on ABC. Keep up with all the drama on the beach ET’s coverage of the show.
