Canada wildfire smoke in New York forces Jodie Comer off Broadway

The British actress Jodie Comer unexpectedly left the stage ten minutes into a Broadway show, saying she was having trouble breathing in the smog engulfing New York.

The blanket of smoke from Canadian wildfires shrouded the midtown skyline, darkening the sky and lending the entire metropolis the taste of burnt toast, stale cigars and the hazy-yellow aspect of a citadel on Mars.

Comer’s one-woman show, Prima Facie, was completed by the Killing Eve star’s understudy. Sporting fixtures and performances including Hamilton were postponed as officials advised residents to stay inside and wear N95 masks when venturing out on errands.
