Jennie Kim from BLACKPINK is on the mend after having to cut short her performance in Sunday night’s show in Melbourne, Australia.
The singer and actress, 27, who is rumored to soon join the Marvelverse, became ill and left the stage in the middle of a number, leaving bandmates Lalisa, Jisoo and Rosé to finish the song.
In a video captured by a fan, Jennie could be seen trying to go through the motions of the choreography before quietly exiting the stage.
The K-pop group’s management company issued a statement blaming her illness on a ‘deteriorating condition.’
‘We regret to inform you that during the BLACKPINK WORLD TOUR [BORN PINK] IN MELBOURNE performance on June 11, member JENNIE was unable to complete the stage due to her deteriorating condition,’ wrote YG Entertainment on the fan platform WeVerse.
After apologizing, the statement thanked fans for their understanding.
‘JENNIE has conveyed her regrets for not being able to stay with the fans until the end, and assures that she will recover as soon as possible.
‘We will do its utmost to support Jennie’s speedy recovery. We would like to ask you for your understanding once again.’
The Shut Down artist issued her own apology on social media writing, ‘Dear Melbourne Blinks, I am so sorry I wasn’t able to finish the show on Sunday.’
‘I am doing my best to recover atm,’ she continued.
‘Your understanding and support means the world to me.
‘Thank you to everyone who came to our Melbourne show. Love you guys.’
Fans quickly took to social media to show their support.
‘She so brave still stepping up the stage despite being so sick,’ wrote one fan on Twitter. ‘Please recover well Jennie.’
Others were highly critical of her actions. ‘More than once, leaving your teammates confused and not explaining to the audience. It’s really lacking in quality,’ one commented.
The singers, who have been filling up arenas on their BORN PINK World Tour, are scheduled to perform two sold out shows in Sydney Friday and Saturday.
According to the website Lastly.com, Jisoo, 28, tested positive for Covid earlier this month and missed the shows in Osaka, Japan on June 3-4.
The singer made her acting debut recently in the controversial new HBO show The Idol.
The drama stars Lily-Rose Depp as a pop star who falls under the sway of a charismatic cult leader played by The Weeknd.
