Christian Horner: Red Bull boss says 'time to draw a line under' the controversy over allegations about his conduct

Red Bull team boss Christian Horner says it is “time to draw a line under” the controversy over allegations about his behavior towards a female employee.

Red Bull has suspended the woman who accused Horner of inappropriate behavior, which he denied.

“An awful lot has been made of it,” Horner said.

“It's of great interest in different parts of the media for different reasons.”

Speaking at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, he added: “Now is the time to draw a line under it.”

Red Bull said it “could not comment” on the reasons for the woman's suspension.

BBC Sport has learned that the reason Red Bull gave to the employee was that she had been dishonest.

Red Bull's engine partner Honda has called for more details about the case.

A spokesperson for the Japanese company said: “We do not have full details on the matter at this time, therefore Honda is not in a position to comment in detail. We look forward to full clarity as soon as possible.”

Horner emphasized that Red Bull's board rejected the complaint last week.

He said: “The reality is that a complaint was made, which was dealt with in the most professional manner by the group, who appointed an independent QC, one of the most reputable in the country.

“He took the time to research all the facts. He looked at everything and came to a conclusion rejecting the complaint.

“As far as I'm concerned, as far as Red Bull is concerned, we'll move on.”

Red Bull has declined to name the lawyer involved, provide any insight into the report it prepared, or explain why the decision to dismiss the complaint was made.

Horner, whose wife Geri was in the Spice Girls, added: “I am lucky to have a beautiful family and a very supportive wife. It was very difficult and quite a challenge.

“My wife has been very supportive, as have my family, but the intrusion on my family is enough now and we have to move on and focus on what we are here for.

“It is now time to focus on why we are here, which is to race in Formula 1.”
